Joe Bosshard is a former professional runner and her wife’s current coach. In 2014, he ran a personal best of 7:50.86 in the 3,000 metres. He also competed in the NCAA championships in 2010, 2011, and 2014, finishing sixth, eighth, and seventh, respectively.

Wife of Joe Bosshard

Emma Coburn is an American middle-distance runner who specialises in the 3000 metre steeplechase. She was born on October 19, 1990. Coburn won the 3000 metres steeplechase in a time of 9:02.58 at the 2017 World Championships in London, breaking her own American record. She became the first American woman to win a World Championship gold medal in the steeplechase.

She won a bronze medal in the 2016 Olympic Games in the 3000 metre steeplechase, setting an American record of 9:07.63. She was also the first American woman to win a medal in that event at the Olympics.

Other notable performances include a silver medal at the 2019 World Championships, a place in the 2012 Olympic final (8th), and appearances in the World Championship finals in 2011 (10th) and 2015. (5th). She also took home the IAAF Continental Cup in 2014. She has won the United States National Championship nine times (2011, 2012, 2014-2019, and 2021).

Emma arranged the Elk 5 km event in Crested Butte, Colorado, in September 2017 as a charity fundraising for the Crested Butte Cancer Support Community. She married Joe Bosshard in October 2017.

Coburn was a Crested Butte Community School student. In the 2008 Nike Outdoor Nationals Track & Field Championships 2000 metre steeplechase, she finished second in 6:42. Coburn is a six-time All-American and three-time NCAA champion (two steeplechase titles and one indoor mile title). She won the Pac-12 steeplechase title as a sophomore and finished second in the NCAA championships while at the University of Colorado in 2010.

Coburn won the Pac-12 indoor 3000 metre title and the Pac-12 and NCAA outdoor 3000 metre steeplechase titles as a junior in 2011. Coburn won the 2011 USA outdoor steeplechase title and qualified for the 2011 World Championships in the steeplechase, finishing 12th in the final.
