Nathaniel Motte is a Boulder, Colorado-based recording artist, record producer, and film composer. With Sean Foreman, he forms the electropop duet 3OH!3. Career

All of 3OH!3’s music is co-written and produced by Motte, who uses both analog and virtual production techniques. He is the musical director for 3OH!3’s live show. Shape Shifters and Jeffree Star have both had songs written and produced by him. In 2009, he co-produced and co-wrote Lil Jon’s single “Hey.”

In 2011, he collaborated with Awol One on the album The Child Star, which was released by Fake Four Inc. In 2012, he co-wrote and co-produced Maroon 5’s single “Love Somebody.”
Motte wrote and produced the song “Renegades” for iSH in 2014. DCF alias Prince Caspian’s hits “Jealous” and “Twenty Something” from the album “Pop Songs” featured him as a writer/producer.

In 2007, he composed the music for the short film “Uberts” (a French Film).

Night Sports, 3OH!3’s fourth studio album, was released on May 13, 2016, via Fueled By Ramen.

His father is Dr. Warren Motte, a distinguished professor of French Literature at the University of Colorado in Boulder. His father is an American and mother is French. Nathaniel has a sibling and his name is Nicholas Motte who is a graphic designer.

Motte announced on Instagram on July 11, 2016, that he had proposed to his longtime girlfriend, television host Liz Trinnear, on July 7, 2016. They married a year later, on July 7, 2017, on Flagstaff Mountain in Boulder, Colorado.

Motte went to Boulder High School, Foothills Elementary, Casey Middle School, and the University of Colorado at Boulder. He earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental, population, and organismic biology in 2006. Motte got accepted to the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center’s medical school the following year.

Motte began taking piano lessons at an early age and began playing guitar with his brother and father at home. At the age of 18, he began DJing in Boulder’s local bars and clubs. Shortly after, he began composing music at home, utilizing programs like Acid and Reason while still a student at the University of Colorado. Although he continues to work in other applications, he currently predominantly utilizes Logic Pro as his production program.
