Jewett was born in Ethiopia and spent her early years in an Ethiopian orphanage. In 2011, her life changed dramatically when she was adopted by a large, loving American family from Florida. Jewett soon adjusted to her new environment, and the 4-year-old was speaking and reading English within months.
