George Linde Biography and Career

South African cricketer George Fredrik Linde was born on 4 December 1991. In October 2019, he made his international debut for the South African cricket team. George Linde is a left-handed spinning all-rounder who has been on the South African team’s fringes for the last year or so. At the age of 20, he made his first-class debut in 2012. He made his debut for Western Province and has also played for the Cape Cobras.

Domestic career

He was named to the Western Province cricket team’s squad for the Africa T20 Cup in 2015. He was named to Benoni Zalmi’s squad for the inaugural season of the T20 Global League in August 2017.

However, Cricket South Africa initially postponed the tournament until November 2018, only to cancel it shortly afterward.

In June 2018, he was named to the Cape Cobras squad for the 2018-19 season. He was named to Western Province’s squad for the 2018 Africa T20 Cup in September 2018.

In October 2018, he was named to the Cape Town Blitz squad for the inaugural Mzansi Super League T20 tournament. He was named to the Cape Town Blitz squad for the 2019 Mzansi Super League tournament in September 2019.

George Linde took his tenth five-wicket haul in first-class cricket in January 2020, during the 2019-20 CSA 4-Day Franchise Series.

Linde was named four-day cricketer of the year at Cricket South Africa’s annual awards ceremony in July 2020. He was named to the Western Province squad in April 2021, ahead of the South African cricket season 2021-22.

Multan Sultans signed him in April 2021 to play in the rescheduled matches of the 2021 Pakistan Super League.

Linde signed a two-year contract with Kent County Cricket Club in England in January 2022.

International career and biography of George Linde

George Linde was added to South Africa’s Twenty20 International T20 squad for their series against India on 5 September 2019, but he did not play.

He was named to South Africa’s Test squad for the third match against India the following month. He made his South African Test debut against India on October 19, 2019. Linde was named to South Africa’s One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against India in March 2020.

Linde was named to South Africa’s squad for their limited overs series against England in November 2020. He made his South African T20I debut against England on November 27, 2020.

George Linde took his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket in February 2021, during South Africa’s series against Pakistan.

Linde was named to South Africa’s ODI squad for the series against Sri Lanka in August 2021.

On September 4, 2021, he made his ODI debut for South Africa against Sri Lanka.  Linde was named as one of three reserve players in South Africa’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup later that month.
