Among the 60 actors who tried out for the teen sitcom Mackerel Run, Moon made her acting debut in 2007 alongside fellow rookie Lee Min-ho. Additionally, Moon and Lee starred in the 2008 comedy movie Our School’s E.T.

In the historical drama Painter of the Wind from 2008, she had her big break. She played a stunning gisaeng who falls in love with Shin Yun-bok, a female painter who poses as a man, in the adaptation of Lee Jung-historical myung’s fiction novel. The on-screen couple subsequently won the Best Couple award at the 2008 SBS Drama Awards with the highest votes.
