Justin Trudeau is having a very hard time dealing with the prosperity of Alberta. Conquering conservatives at this moment is near to impossible task for him. Yet, his party keeps flogging a dead horse.
In the midst of that, Canadians may not have a good upcoming year. The economy of Canada is in the doldrums and it may soon experience a recession. However, if you are in Alberta, you can chill.
Alberta continues to perform better than the rest of Canada. This is something that has always irked Trudeau due to his own poor report card.
The Canadian economy is in an absolute dilemma. According to a report by the Desjardins Group, Canada is about to experience a recession in 2023. As per the report, Trudeau’s ‘daydream’ to bring inflation back to the 2 per cent range would be a herculean task and a soft landing – where inflation is tamed without leading to a recession – has become “increasingly unlikely.”
Furthermore, Canadian economic growth lagged in the second quarter and most likely dipped into negative territory in July. Reportedly, the growth in the last two quarters has remained at 0.8% which is far below than expected forecast of 4.4%.
With growth slowing down, economists have warned that the job market will weaken and likely push up the unemployment rate.
The central bank of Canada has been hiking rates aggressively since March to escape from chances of recession. But, nothing seems to be working out.
The liberals are trying to sweep this under the rug and continue to ignore the fact ‘Canadian economy is entirely damned’. However, in the midst, one province continues to remain an exception. And you know which province I am talking about.
Alberta saving the Canadian economy
Another major report suggests that Alberta’s economy is solely responsible for preventing a total collapse of the Canadian economy. According to TD Bank, Alberta is currently on track to grow the real GDP of Canada.
While an Alberta government news release suggests that the administration anticipates GDP to expand by 4.9%, the province’s economy is projected to grow at a rate of 5.5%. This is five times greater than the national average.
While releasing the report on the Canadian economy, TD Bank praised the Albertan authorities. The bank noted: “Alberta is likely to lead the way in terms of economic growth this year, as the steep climb in crude oil, natural gas, and agricultural prices lift incomes in the province.”
Furthermore, Job growth in Alberta has been solid so far this year, bolstered by gains in the private sector.
In fact, the bank report indicated that private sector hiring has been the strongest of any province year-to-date, supported by industries tied to re-openings (e.g., accommodation and food services, retail trade), the professional, scientific, and technical services sector, and mining, oil, and gas. ”
The United Conservative Party government in Alberta is also ready to complete the largest debt repayment in the history of the province. Thanks to its record-breaking growth in resources revenue, a whopping $13.4 billion in revenue are about to be repaid.
Very clearly, Alberta is a cut above other provinces in Canada. While in other provinces, many of which are governed by liberals are still at sea when it comes to the economy. Everything has already been sorted out by the Albertan authorities.

Trudeau’s apple of Discord
Now that it has been proved that Alberta alone leads the Canadian economy, and continues to do better than other liberal provinces, Trudeau’s bad blood towards Alberta may now have a new justification.
History has shown that Justin and liberals hate Alberta. Be it the climate agenda, the RCMP, fundamental rights of free speech and peaceful protests, Trudeau’s non-sensical agenda has always been in the crosshairs of Alberta’s authorities.
The liberals recently tried stoking tensions in Alberta by criticizing conservatives with tags of misogynists and harassers due to inappropriate behaviour with Deputy PM, Crysta Freeland. Yet, the motion failed terribly.

The Albertan conservatives are now becoming a jack of all trades. As the Canadian economy plummets, Alberta’s economy would continue to remain positive.
Trudeau wanted to shut down Alberta’s most valuable industry—the oil and gas sector—due to “environmental concerns.” It is only through this ‘valuable industry’ that Canada is still able to survive in the midst of a global energy crisis.
You see, rest of the Canada could also reap benefits from the abundant natural resources it has, but the prime minister does not see a business case for it, as he said regarding exporting natural gas to Germany.
So, Mr Trudeau, it appears that you currently need to learn how to make policies, and decisions rather than just trying your hands at tarnishing the image of a prosperous Alberta.
