Morocco is now the chair of African Union’s Security Council, and its first message to the West is brutal

“Divide and Rule”, this is the strategy that the colonisers devised during the colonial era to rule nations across the world.

The Global hegemon America holds influence in far more countries which the British held at their prime and wields more power than the erstwhile British Empire. And it has done it only by using its erstwhile colonizer’s policy “Divide and Rule”.  But Morocco has fired the shot in the air to mark the beginning of the end of America’s reign in the continent of Africa. To know how, delve deeper into the article.

The 55 member states that make up the nations of the African Continent make up the African Union (AU), a continental organization. It was introduced formally in 2002 as the replacement of “Organisation of African Unity” (OAU, 1963-1999).

The main goals of OAU were to eradicate all traces of colonialism and apartheid from the continent, to foster unity and solidarity among African States, to coordinate and step up development cooperation, to protect member states’ sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to advance international cooperation.

But it seems that none of the countries were interested in every country’s achievements, rather every nation focused on self-growth even if it meant to undermine others.

But this time the Presiding member of the Peace and Security Council Morocco has reiterated its stance that the West will no longer dominate the African union and it is the African countries which will do the honors.

The seat of the Security council of the AU is with Morocco this year and in its inaugural address Morocco has firmly stated that Africa is Rising and it will not bow down to the pressure tactics of the West.

Nasser Bourita who was chairing the session via video conference from Rabat stated that Morocco is committed to promoting South-South, North-South, and triangular solidarity cooperation, in order to address the complex and transnational nature of the terrorist threat in Africa. This commitment is evident from Morocco’s membership in a number of sub-regional cooperation frameworks which are intended to strengthen the collective ability of African nations to protect their borders from transnational threats.

Africa is the second region of the world where terrorism strikes most often and, above all, indiscriminately. There are at least 19 separatist movements currently running across the continent. Africa is suffering “an unparalleled proliferation of terrorist groups,” with 48% of terror victims worldwide, 7,234 terrorist attacks that have claimed 28,960 deaths in 2021. There are 27 terrorist organisations designated on the UN sanctions list which are operating across the continent. Terrorism has economically impacted an equal of $ 171 billion over the past 10 years to Africa.

In the backdrop of this situation Morocco reiterated its commitment for fighting the insurgents in the continent of Africa during this meeting and also suggested drying up the sources of terrorist. Knowing that the major insurgent groups, rebels and separatists are backed by the West, Morocco has suggested the establishment of a platform between member states for the collaboration and exchange of expertise in de-radicalisation. It has also suggested that a development fund should be dedicated to finance Africa’s socio-economic and human development for rehabilitation of victims of terrorism.

Morocco has hinted that the West should take out its proxies from the continent or Africa is already set to eradicate these menaces and also West’s influence along with it. Proxies like Boko Haram, M23, TPLF among others are wreaking havoc in the continent since years and the West is fueling them in the name of aid for continuing its loot of the wealth and the resources of African Continent. But after the emergence of Russia across the continent has sparked fear among the circle of the West that it’s the beginning of the end of West’s unfortunate Scramble for Africa. The fear of the West is legitimate and the dreams of the West are shattered that now even the African nations are realizing the evil deeds of the West. West’s days are numbered in Africa and it must decide whether its wants to retreat respectfully or face humiliation like Iraq and Afghanistan.
