Trudeau buys out Canadian Governor General

Canadian governor general salary

Canadian governor general salary: It’s easy to forget of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s false housing-crisis pledges. However, it is essential to maintain track of how little the Canadian Prime Minister has done since the Liberals were elected in 2015 to keep prices from ballooning. While the Liberal government continues to tinker with the housing problem, exacerbating its citizens’ woes, Trudeau is doing everything he can to flatten the purses of already dominant authorities.

There was a time, not long ago, when tent cities beset by violence and chaos were virtually exclusively found in the most challenging environments of Vancouver or Toronto. However, they are now almost ubiquitous. Despite billions spent at the problem, Canadian homelessness worsened by practically every indicator. The Prime Minister of Canada continues to disregard the situation, wearing a pompous mask and lying through his teeth while claiming that everything is in order in Canada under his leadership.

Currently, record high unemployment rates, growing public debt, inflation, and rising interest rates define the average Canadian’s existence. According to recent reports, the ratio of Canadian household debt-to-income widened to a record 181.7% in the second quarter from a downwardly revised 179.3% in the first quarter.

The nation is currently grappling with a myriad of issues, including those relating to housing, food, and health. The unfortunate Canadians have endured immense suffering as a result of their Prime Minister’s incompetence.

In the midst of this, there are reports of Mary Simon, the salary of Canadian governor general being increased by $39,300 since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2019, the salary of Canadian governor general was $302,800, according to information provided to the CTF by the Privy Council Office. But by 2022, that figure had jumped by 13 per cent, up to $342,100.

This is not the first-time discrepancy has been found in deployment of funds to the governor general. Last year, Simon found herself in hot water after news broke that her March 2022 week-long trip to the Middle East, to visit Expo 2020 in Dubai, cost taxpayers more than $1 million — including just shy of $100,000 on airplane food alone, with a menu featuring beef wellington, pork tenderloin and carpaccio.

It’s been months since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appointed Simon, and I’m convinced that the vast majority of Canadians are still unfamiliar with her face or name. However, why should they? Canadians are a busy bunch, and Gov. Gen. Simon has done nothing noteworthy.

The governor general, meets with international leaders and travels to various nations. These have no effect because the governor general is not permitted to participate in Canadian foreign policy.

The Canadian governor general makes visits to schools, hospitals, and disaster areas. These primarily aim to perplex as observers seek to recall who this person is and wonder when the prime minister will arrive.

The Canadian governor general signs measures into law but does not have the power to veto them. And the GG is typically too preoccupied with gallivanting to do even this. Canadian Supreme Court justices often sign bills on behalf of the governor general, as well as execute the numerous other rubber-stamp legal rituals expected of the nation’s figurehead-in-chief.

Every year, Canadians pay millions of dollars for these trivial services, including the exorbitant salary of Canadian governor general. Trudeau keeps rubber stamping raises while Canadians wonder if they can buy a package of hamburger meat.

Can he demonstrate that the governor general adds $40,000 in value to taxpayers? Certainly not. If anything, the post should no longer exist. In practise, the only true purpose of the job is to add a touch of Victorian romanticism to the drab lives of politicians in Canada’s capital and to give a source of fixation for elitist aristocratic freaks.

For Trudeau, the salary hike is just to keep his cronies happy. They know his secrets and incompetence. With the elections around the corner, Trudeau would not want to lose friends, especially in the light of the growing popularity of the Conservatives. Spending millions and forcing the already bruised taxpayers with more expenses is a short bargain for narcissistic Trudeau.
