Baradevi Mandir is one of the famous temples of Kanpur. This is an ancient temple, it is believed that this temple is 1700 years old and it is not known exactly when the temple was built. Bara Devi Temple is located at Bara Road, Juhi Kalan, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. There are idols of 12 goddesses in this temple.

History of this Temple

History of Kanpur Baradevi Mandir is nearly 2000 years old. A story related to the temple is very famous, once due to a rift with their father, 12 sisters ran away from home together to escape his wrath. All the sisters were established as idols in Kidwai Nagar. These 12 sisters made of stone became famous after many years by the name of Baradevi temple. It is said that due to the curse of the sisters, their father also turned to stone.

All the festivals are celebrated in Bara Devi Temple, especially Durga Puja and Navratri’s special pujas are organized. On this day the temple is decorated with flowers and lights. The spiritual atmosphere of the temple brings peace to the heart and mind of the devotees.
