Birla Mandir Alibaug – Guide

20 kms After Revdanda, there is a small village called ‘Salav’ on the Alibaug-Roha road away from Alibaug. There is a temple on top of a hill near Salav village. Vikram Steel Company, a part of the Birla Group of Industries, has built this temple named ‘Birla Mandir’ in Alibaug. The temple is situated between Vikram Steel Company and its beautiful residential colony. It is a temple made of pure milky white marble and its dome can be seen even from a distance.

History of this Temple

Birla Mandir of Alibaug has a marble floor and the temple hall is open from all sides. The roof of the temple is transparent which allows free flow of air and ample light inside. There is a square shaped cave upon entering the temple. The cave is also made of marble and very beautifully carved.

The beautifully carved idol of ‘Ganapati’ is placed in the cave. Idols of ‘Riddhi and Siddhi’ are placed on either side of the idol. There are small temples of ‘Radha-Krishna’, ‘Shiva-Parvati’, ‘Bhavanidevi’ and ‘Suryadev’ around the cave.There is a statue of “Late Aditya Birla” in the garden next to the temple.

Puja and Aarti are performed daily at 9.00 am and 7.00 pm. Birla Mandir of Alibaug is open to the public from 6.00 am to 11.30 am and from 4.30 pm to 9.00 pm.

It is about 54 km from Alibaug and is spread over an area of ​​about 22 acres. The fort was originally a wooden structure, which was later renovated by Sidi Sirul Khan in the 17th century.
