Mahatma Mandir Gandhinagar – Guide
Mahatma Mandir is a convention and exhibition centre located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. It is inspired by the life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. It is one of the largest convention centres in India spread over 34 acres.
History of this Temple
The Gujarat government wanted to develop the Mahatma Mandir as a place of unity and development. Sand was brought in urns by representatives of all 18,066 villages of Gujarat and emptied into the foundation of the Mahatma Temple. In 2010 a time capsule containing the history of the nation was buried under the Mahatma Temple at the ground breaking ceremony.
Mahatma Mandir Gandhinagar was built in two phases by Larsen & Toubro and Shapoorji Pallonji & Company Limited. Its planning and design is eco-friendly. The first phase of the Mahatma Mandir was constructed in nine months from May 2010 to January 2011 at a cost of Rs 135 crore. It consists of a convention centre, three large exhibition halls and smaller halls with conferencing facilities.

Mahatma Mandir Gandhinagar opens at 10:30 AM in the morning and close at 5:00 PM in the evening.

Places to visit near this Temple
Adalaj Stepwell
The Adalaj Stepwell is a step well situated at a distance of 3 to 4 kilometers to the south-west of Gandhinagar. This Bav or Babdi was constructed in 1498 to prevent water crisis in and around Adalaj village.

Trimandir is the only temple in India that follows Jainism, Shaivism and Vaishnavism. That is why the temple is divided into different sections, in which idols of different avatars of Mahavira, Shiva and Vishnu can be seen.
