Alopi Devi Mandir Alopibagh – Guide
Alopi Devi Mandir is a famous temple located in Alopibagh, Allahabad in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Located near the holy Sangam of Allahabad, this temple is an unconventional temple full of Hindu faith. Please tell that this temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths dedicated to Mata Sati. This temple is special in the sense that there is no idol of any deity in this temple, but there is a wooden cart or ‘doli’ which is worshipped.
History of this Temple
The history of Alopi Devi Mandir Alopibagh is somewhat obscure which was built many years ago with the help of local people. According to some historical evidence, the great Maratha warrior Shrinath Mahadji Shinde developed the Sangam site during his stay in Allahabad in 1772 AD. While Maharani Baijabai Scindia has done some works for renovation of Sangam Ghats and temples in Allahabad. It is possible that the Alopi Devi temple was also renovated during this period.
