Danteshwari Mandir Dantewada – Guide

Danteshwari Mandir is located near the confluence of the Dankini and Shankhini rivers in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. The idol of Mata located in the temple is made of black granite stone with hexagon. The idol of Danteshwari Mata has 6 arms, out of which the right hand holds conch shell, sword and trishul respectively and the left hand holds bell, padma and rakshasa respectively. There is a silver umbrella over the idol, the clothes are decorated with ornaments.

History of this Temple

King Annam Dev of Warangal state got the Danteshwari Mandir Dantewada built in the 4th century. This temple is considered to be the 52nd Shakti Peeth. After the construction of this temple, many kings got the temple renovated. First of all, the kings of Arjun clan of Warangal got it done, then in the year 1932-33, Maharani Prafulla Kumari Devi got it renovated. There are many legends related to this temple which are mentioned below.

When Annamdev came here from Warangal, he was blessed by Danteshwari Mata that his kingdom would expand as far as Annamdev and goddesses behind him, as far as Annamdev walked, but there was a condition that he could not look back if Looking back, the goddess has to be installed there.

Danteshwari Mandir Dantewada opening time is from 5 am to 7 pm. But timings may vary on special days and festivals. The temple aarti time is 5.30 am and evening aarti is 6.30 pm. Danteshwari darshan timings are from 5.30 am to 6.45 pm.

There is an ancient Shiva temple here and is regularly worshiped by the devotees. Samlur is situated about 9 kms from the district headquarter Dantewada.
