Sitala Mata Mandir Jaipur – Guide

The mandir of Sitala Mata is about 70 km south of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Chaksu village is situated on a hill 300 meters high which is visible from a distance. Another name of this place is Sheel ki Dungri, one has to climb about 300 meters to have darshan of Mata.

History of this Temple

The Mandir of Sitala Mata located on Sheela ki Dungri is said to be 500 years old. There are many historical stories concerning the temple. According to the popular history related to the establishment of Sheetla Mata in Dungri, Sheetla Mata once thought to herself “Let us see who on earth worships her, who believes her? Sheetla Mata took the form of an old woman and reached the Dungri village of Rajasthan on earth and came to know that she has no temple and no one worships her.

Places to visit near this Temple

Chokhi Dhani

Here you will get an opportunity to watch Rajasthani folk songs, folk dances, puppet shows every evening. You will be engrossed in the colors here and will want to devote all your time to it. Twinkling lights illuminate it at night.

Amber fort and Palace

Built by Raja Man Singh I, this palace is made of red sandstone and marble. It has been made in such a fine way that you will be shocked to see it. Its walls were made high so that it could be saved from the attacks of the enemies.

Jhalana Leopard Conservation Reserve

Here you will definitely see leopards and leopards. Spread over 20 sq km, this area used to be a hunting ground in ancient times. Which has now become a popular tourist destination. Here you can also travel in an open gypsy with a guide.

Bhuteshwar Nath Temple

It will be an exciting journey for you as you will have to climb the height. You will get to see a panoramic view by going to a height of 570 meters. You will not be able to live without capturing this sight in the camera.
