Kalika Mata Mandir is the most important temples of Chittorgarh. The Kalika Mata Temple built in the 14th century, situated between the Padmini Mahal and the Vijay Sthambh, is considered to be the main faith centre of Chittorgarh. Kalika Mata Temple is dedicated to Goddess Kalika which is the another form of maa Durga. Built on a platform, this temple reflects the Prathira architectural style, intricate designs can be seen on the roof, pillars and gates of the temple. This temple is partially in ruins but still its architecture is astonishing.

History of this Temple

The Kalika Mata Mandir Chittorgarh was actually originally a temple of the God Sun, which was built during the 8th century. But this temple was destroyed during the attack of Alauddin Khilji. After some time, the idol of Kalika Mata was installed here in the 14th century and since then this temple came to be known as Kalika Mata Temple.

The Kalika Mata Mandir Chittorgarh is situated on a high podium and has intricately designed pavilions, gateways, ceilings and pillars. Intricate designs can be seen on the ceilings, pillars and gates of the temple. This temple is partially in ruins but still its architecture is astonishing. The entrance gate to the east of Kalika Mata Temple is placed on a rock. The Kalika temple complex also has a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva called Jogeshwar Mahadev.

Kalika Mata Mandir Chittorgarh remains open from 5.00 am to 8.00 pm for the entry of devotees and darshan of Mata.

Kirti Stambh

Kirti Stambh is located inside the Chittorgarh Fort in Rajasthan. This 22 meter tall pillar was built in the 12th century. The tower was built by a Jain merchant, Jija Bhargwala, during the reign of Rawal Kumar Singh.

Maha Sati

Maha Sati is a very holy place situated about 110 kms from Chittorgarh. Let us tell you that this place is so special because the last rites of Udaipur rulers were performed here.
