The Hanuman Mandir located on Baba Kharak Singh Marg in Connaught Place. According to folklore, the deity of the temple appears in person. The idol of Lord Hanuman in the temple is placed in such a way that he is facing the south direction holding a gada in his left hand, while the other hand rests on his chest in reverence. Effigies of Lord Rama, his brother Lakshmana and wife Sita. Situated at a height of about 108 feet, this temple is currently one of the major religious centres of Delhi.

History of this Temple

Hanuman Mandir Connaught Place is believed to have been built by the Pandavas after the Kurukshetra war against the Kauravas, and thus, it is also known as one of the five temples of Mahabharata days in Delhi. However, the original temple is said to have been built by Raja Jai Singh in 1724 AD. Since its inception, the temple has undergone several modifications. An amazing fact to know about this temple is that since 1st August 1964, the temple has been adopting a unique way of worshiping the deity where hymns are chanted for 24 hours in the temple.

Hanuman Mandir Connaught Place Timings

Hanuman Mandir Connaught Place is open from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. On Tuesdays, operates from 4:00 AM to 2:00 AM. On the other hand, the temple does not close after opening at 4:00 am on Saturdays and thus remains open all night. Despite the fluctuating timings, the morning aarti starts daily at 5:30 am.

How to reach Hanuman Mandir Connaught Place

The nearest metro station from Hanuman Mandir Connaught Place is Rajiv Chowk Metro Station. The station is located a few meters away from the temple, and from here, you can reach this temple only by walking. Rajiv Chowk is considered to be the busiest metro station in Delhi and is located on both Yellow Line and Blue Line Metro.
