Narsingh Mandir is a Hindu religious place located in Joshimath, Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. This temple of Narasimha is dedicated to Lord Narasimha, the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This temple is known as the main temple of Joshimath.

Chamoli Narsingh Mandir is also known as Narasimha Badri. Lord Narasimha, located in this temple, according to legend, incarnated to kill the demon Hiranakashyap to protect his beloved devotee Prahlad. This Narasimha temple is considered to be one of the 108 Dashmas of the Lord.

History of this Temple

The Chamoli Narsingh Mandir is linked to the Mahabharata and it is said that the foundation of this temple was laid by the Pandavas. The left hand of the idol of the famous Narasimha ji installed in this temple is getting thinner day by day. It is said that on the day when the statue of Narasimha ji established in this temple falls down, on that day Nar and Narayan mountains, which are famous as Jai and Vijay mountains, will collide with each other and due to the collision of these mountains, After that the route to Badrinath will be closed for Sada.
