Shree Gopal Mandir Ujjain – Guide

Shree Gopal Mandir is located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. This famous temple is the second largest temple in the city. The temple was built by Vaija Bai, wife of Daulatrao Scindia. ‘Dwarkadhish Gopal Temple’ is said to be about two hundred years old. Many types of facilities are provided by the organization to the devotees who come here on the occasion of festivals. The silver doors of the temple are the main centre of attraction.

History of this Temple

Shree Gopal Mandir Ujjain was built by Daulatrao Scindia’s wife Vaija Bai in Samvat 1901, in which the idol was installed in Samvat 1909. With this value, the temple was built in 1844 AD and the idol was established in 1852.

The ‘Gopal Mandir’ houses the idols of Lord Dwarkadhish, Shankar, Parvati and Garuda. These idols are immovable and there is also an idol of Vaija Bai in one corner. Apart from ‘Janmashtami’ here, ‘Harihar’s festival’ is celebrated with great pomp. At the time of Harihar, Lord Mahakal’s ride comes at twelve o’clock in the night, then Harihar Milan means meeting of Vishnu and Shiva takes place here. Where the worship goes on for one and a half to two hours at that time.

Shree Gopal Mandir Ujjain opens at 5:00 AM in the morning and close at 7:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 5:30 AM in the morning and evening aarti performed at 6:00 PM in the evening.
