Gomateshwara Bahubali Temple – Guide
Information related to the history of Gomateshwara Temple, also known as Bahubali Temple, is told by historians. Gomateshwara Bahubali Temple is a major Jain religious place associated with Karnataka located in Shravanabelagola city of the state Karnataka.
History of this Temple
Historians tell about the information related to history that Gomateshwara Bahubali Temple was built during 982 or 983 AD. There are about 43 idols of Jain Tirthankaras in the entire temple complex. Apart from all this, about 17 meters tall statues of Lord Bahubali have been made here, which is one of the tallest statues in the world.
This statue of Lord Bahubali has been carved in a very beautiful way in the Gomateshwar temple complex. Kannada inscriptions can also be seen under the statue of Lord Bahubali. There is also a large pillared mandap in this temple complex. About 43 idols of Jain Tirthankaras can be seen in these pavilions.
Gomateshwara Bahubali Temple Timings
Gomateshwara Bahubali Temple is opened and closed twice daily. This temple remains open from 6:00 am to 11:30 am and again from 3:30 am to 6:30 am. You can visit here between this time.

This 12th century monument was originally built by King Ashoka in memory of the brave king Chandragupta Maurya. It is one of the major tourist attractions of Shravanabelagola because of its enchanting architectural ideas similar to the Chola type.
Gomateshwar statue
After climbing 600 steps to the Vindhyagiri hill, you will come face to face with the much-awaited tallest monolithic statue of Baahubali. It seems that the eyes of the 58 feet statue are wide open and there is no such emotional attachment on its face.
