EU is in a famine situation, Dear god, it’s deplorable. The tomato shortage is surreal in Europe. Almost a month ago, the UK reported a severe tomato shortage. Spain also reported a low yield in production.
Veggies have become increasingly expensive in recent months in Europe, with local farmers struggling to meet higher energy costs to power their greenhouses.
But their long arch-nemesis, ooff, Russia is again saving the day for Europe.
A truckload of cucumbers and tomatoes has been spotted in Poland. It is anticipated that all of the imported food is being exported to other nations too. Though, Russian food imports were not banned by EU sanctions.
The situation in Europe has become increasingly dire. Not only is there a shortage of tomatoes, but other vegetables such as cucumbers, peppers and lettuces have also become scarce. In some areas, the supply of vegetables is so low that prices have skyrocketed, making them unaffordable for many people. It’s become a dire situation for the people of Europe, and the situation shows no sign of improving.
The shortage of vegetables in Europe has been caused by a combination of factors. One of the main causes is a dry and hot summer, which has caused crop yields to be lower than usual. Additionally, higher energy costs have caused farmers to struggle to power their greenhouses, reducing their production.
Finally, the imposition of sanctions on Russia has also had an effect, as Russia was a major exporter of vegetables to Europe. The news that Russia is now supplying vegetables to Europe has been met with mixed reactions. On one hand, it is a relief to know that the situation may improve and people will have access to vegetables again. On the other hand, the people of Europe are wary of accepting food from their former enemy. After all, the sanctions were imposed in the first place because of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.
Yet, EU was trying hard to avoid the veggie trade. Sadly, they had to turn back to their newest enemy.
