Delhi Prachin Hanuman Mandir – Guide

The Delhi Prachin Hanuman Mandir is an ancient temple dedicated to the child Hanuman from the Mahabharata period. It is believed to be one of the five temples established by the Pandavas in Delhi. Located in the heart of Delhi Connaught Place on Baba Kharag Singh Marg, this temple is special in many ways. The chanting of Shri Ram Jairam Jai jai Ram continues continuously in this temple from 1st August 1964 till today. For which it has also been included in the Guinness Book

History of this Temple

The form of the present Delhi Prachin Hanuman Mandir came in front of the devotees in the year 1724 when Maharaja Jai ​​Singh of the then princely state of Jaipur got it renovated again. Prior to that, this divine temple of Lord Hanuman located at Connaught Place was battling with attacks and terrorist atrocities. There are also stories of many attacks on this temple during the period of Mughal rulers. On the pillars of the main gate, the entire Sunderkand’s quadrupeds are carved.

Delhi Prachin Hanuman Mandir opens at 4:00 AM in the morning and close at 11:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 7:00 AM in the morning and evening aarti is performed at 8:00 PM in the evening.

Places to visit near this Temple

Lotus Temple

This temple built in the shape of a lotus flower is located near the Nehru Place metro station in South Delhi. You will be surprised to know that no idol is installed inside this temple because it is a Baha’i worship temple which introduces peace in the world.
