History of this Temple

Himachal Chintpurni Mandir was discovered by a Durga devotee named Mai Das in the 14th century. Mai Das was born in Athur village, princely state of Patiala. Mai Das ji had two elder brothers – Durgadas and Devidas. Most of the time of Mai Das was spent in worship. That’s why he could not help in the work of the family.

That’s why the brothers separated Mai Das ji from the family. Mai Das continued to spend his time in worship and devotion to Durga. On the way, sat down to rest under a banyan tree. Today there is a grand temple of Maa Chintpurni under this banyan tree and that rock is also kept in the temple, where the water came out, there is a beautiful pond . Since June 12, 1987, the management of this temple is under the control of Himachal Government.
