Shekhawati Jeen Mata Temple – Guide

The very ancient temple of Maa in Jeen Mata village on Sikar-Jaipur road in Shekhawati area is the main center of faith of the devotees. In Rajasthan, Jeen Mata has a lot of recognition among the devotees. This temple is built in the middle of a beautiful forest and also surrounded between three small hills around the temple.

Shekhawati Jeen Mata Temple is one of the ancient Shaktipeeths of the country. This Jeen Mata Temple is facing in the direction of south. There are idols of Tantrikas on the walls of the temple, which tells that in the past it must have been the center of Tantrika’s meditation. There is an eight handed idol of Jeen Bhagwati inside the temple.

History of this Temple

Shekhawati Jeen Mata Temple is believed to be built in the eighth century. The oldest inscription present here is of 1029 AD. According to beliefs, Jeen Mata was born in a royal family of Ghanghu village in Churu, Rajasthan. Mother Shakti is considered to be an incarnation of maa Parvati and her elder brother Harsh is said to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva. According to the legends, once there was a dispute between the two brothers and sisters and then mother came and started penance to this place.

Shekhawati Jeen Mata Temple opens at 4:00 AM in the morning and close at 10:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 7:10 AM in the morning and evening aarti is performed at 7:30 PM in the evening.
