Karni Mata Rat Temple – Guide
Karni Mata Rat Temple is a world-famous temple situated at a distance of about 30 kilometers from Bikaner, Rajasthan. This place is known for the dense population of rats living here. This temple in Bikaner is dedicated to Karni Mata, one of the incarnations of Goddess Durga. This temple is known to have more than 25000 black rats. Who reside in this complex. This temple is also famous as the temple of rats.
History of this Temple
There is a popular story about Karni Mata that when Karni Mata’s son dies. So she begs Yamadev to spare her son’s life. But Yamadev does not accept hes request. After this, Karni Mata, an incarnation of the goddess, not only gives life to her child but also declares that her family will now live in the form of rats. There are 25,000 black rats and some white rats in the Karni Mata temple. Those who live in the Karni Mata premises are considered sacred. Rats are worshiped in the Rat Temple.
Best time to visit Karni Mata Rat Temple
Huge fair is organised during the Navratri which is celebrated twice a year. First in the month of March or April and second in the month of October or November.

Karni Mata Rat Temple opens at 5:00 AM in the morning and close at 10:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 6:00 AM in the morning and evening aarti is performed at 8:30 PM in the evening.
