Puducherry Manakula Vinayagar Temple – Guide

Manakula Vinayagar Temple is located in the Union Territory of Puducherry. The specialty of this temple mentioned in the scriptures is the miraculous idol sitting here which the French tried to harm, but always failed. This temple is the Puducherry Manakula Vinayagar Temple where Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, has been solving the sufferings of the devotees for centuries.

The history of Puducherry Manakula Vinayagar Temple is more than 500 years old. It is said that when the French came to Puducherry, they saw immense reverence for this temple in the minds of the Hindus. Due to this, the French immersed the idol of Lord Ganesha in the sea, but it was a miracle that the idol would come back to its place again.

There were many attempts to disturb the rituals of the temple, but every time with the blessings of Lord Ganesha, the troublemakers seemed to be unsuccessful. Due to this reason that even today this temple is of utmost importance for Hindus not only in Puducherry but all over India.

Best time to visit this temple

Every year in the month of August-September Brahmotsavam is celebrated at Manakula Vinayagar Temple. This is the main festival of the temple which lasts for 24 days. Apart from this, Vinayaka Chaturdashi, Ganesh Chaturthi and many other festivals are celebrated in the temple. Vijayadashami is also a major festival here.

Puducherry Manakula Vinayagar Temple opens from 5:45 AM to 12:30 PM in the morning and from 4:00 PM to 9:30 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 7:00 AM in the morning and evening aarti performed at 8:00 PM in the evening.
