G7 is set to give Canada a ‘Polite’ farewell

Grab your Tim Hortons and poutine because we’ve got some juicy international drama brewing! A WSJ article has shed light on the future of Canada in the geopolitical arena and yes, it’s pretty sad for you all. Yet, entertaining as hell.

It appears that Canada is about to receive a not-so-friendly farewell from the G7 gang. Sorry, Canada, but it looks like the maple leaf is about to get trampled on!

So, here’s the deal. Canada has been slacking when it comes to its NATO commitments. Remember that agreement to spend 2% of GDP on defense? Well, turns out Canada’s been too busy saying sorry to actually pony up the dough.

They’re sitting pretty at a not-so-whopping 1.38%, which puts them in the same league as Italy and Slovenia.

But it gets worse. Canada isn’t just lagging behind in defense spending, they’re practically freeloading! They’re the sixth-lowest spender in NATO and their military equipment budget?

Let’s just say it’s not exactly keeping the R&D folks at Lockheed Martin up at night. It’s pretty low even by the standards of Canada.

A WSJ now claims Canada is now a freeloader as now it is literally doing nothing in the grand alliance of both G7 and NATO. And so, it is better to kick it out and replace it with a better alternative. The author stresses it is time Canada gets replaced.

Is Canada to be booted out?

So, who could the G7 gang eye as a replacement for this underachieving northern neighbor? Brace yourselves, because the leading candidate is none other than… Poland! Yep, you heard it right. Poland is the new cool kid on the NATO block.

For almost a year, Warsaw has been stepping up their game, pumping that sweet 2% of GDP into defense, and assisting Ukrainian war efforts like no one else in the EU. Move over, Canada, it’s time for Poland to shine!

Poland Really?

Now, we know what you’re thinking: “Poland? Really?” But let me tell you, my friends, Poland has been flexing its geopolitical muscles lately. They are already building the largest army in the European Union on the horizon, while Canada’s military is dwindling faster than Justin Bieber’s credibility.

Better put: Poland is like the new kid who shows up on the playground with a shiny new bike while Canada’s still stuck with a rusty tricycle.

Now, I don’t mean to be harsh on Canada. But, you were once a mighty power, fighting alongside the Allies in World War II and co-founding NATO. But somewhere along the way, prominently after 2015, you seem to have lost your mojo.

Maybe Trudeau got distracted by all those Woke moose or got too caught up in being the moral compass of the world. Either way, it’s time for Canada to snap out of it and get back in the game!

So, dear Canada, consider this our polite, yet firm, message to you. It’s time to step up, eh? We love you, but it’s time to show some real maple leaf pride. Otherwise, you might find yourself at the back of the line while Poland takes your seat at the G7 table. And trust us, it is very likely going to happen.
