In a shocking news from the UK, a toddler who was accused of being transphobic or homophobic has been suspended from nursery for the same. Reports from the Department for Education (DfE) show that the child aged three or four, was suspended from a state school in the academic year 2022/23 for “abuse against sexual orientation and gender identity,” according to a freedom of information request (FOI) by The Telegraph.
Although the school has not disclosed any further details of the incident, astonishing date shows that 94 pupils at state primary schools were suspended or permanently excluded for homophobia or transphobia in 2022/23.
Helen Joyce, director of advocacy at the campaign group Sex Matters, said the story highlighted what she viewed as the extreme consequences of gender ideology. She expressed disbelief that a toddler could be suspended for what was labelled as transphobic or homophobic and that this was not an isolated incident. Joyce claimed that 13 children aged four and five have been excluded or suspended for similar reasons. She criticized the educators involved accusing them of imposing adult ideologies on children and described the disruption to early education inexcusable.
Data from the report in the UK shows that ten of the suspended pupils belonged to year one and three were from year two where the maximum age is seven. It also showed one child was of nursery age. Latest DfE data from the autumn term in 2023 also revealed 82 pupils were suspended for the same reason.
The data, which has only been collected since the 2020/21 academic year, also showed the number of pupils suspended or expelled for homophobic or transphobic behaviour increased from 164 in 2021/22 to 178 in 2022/23.
Figures for the autumn term in 2023 revealed all suspensions, not just for homophobia and transphobia, increased by 41 per cent among primary school pupils and permanent exclusions increased by a third.
Meanwhile a UK Department for Education spokesperson has come out in defence of the move, speaking to The Independent the spokesperson said, “All pupils and staff should feel safe and protected at school and should never face violence or abuse. The Education Secretary has been clear that she expects school leaders to enforce good behaviour, and we are committed to a comprehensive programme of behavior support for schools.”
“Our Plan for Change sets out our relentless focus on making sure every child gets the best life chances, no matter their background, including establishing free breakfast clubs in every primary school, providing access to mental health support and making attendance one of the four core priorities of our school improvement teams.”
Since taking office Labour leader and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been criticized by a number of quarters of the UK public, the farmers had earlier rallied for a major tractor tax movement against the PM, then there was the outrage over the Grooming Jihad cases highlighted by reports made public. Moreover the public has also been outraged over Starmer’s very public stance on outright support for Zelensky and his indications of getting the UK involved directly in the war in Ukraine. Now reports of the UK government pushing woke politics in the daily lives of people will surely act another dent in the popularity ratings for the party and the leader.
