In a stark warning to Russian leadership, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky advised Russian President Vladimir Putin and his officials to identify the nearest bomb shelters in the Kremlin, emphasizing the escalating consequences of Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine. The pointed remark came during an exclusive interview with Axios, where Zelensky underscored the urgency of ending the conflict.

“If they do not stop the war, they will need it anyway,” Zelensky said, referring to the potential need for Kremlin officials to seek shelter as the war’s repercussions intensify.

Zelensky also revealed details of a conversation with former U.S. President Donald Trump, who, according to the Ukrainian leader, promised to consider supplying Kyiv with advanced weaponry. These weapons, Zelensky noted, could compel Putin to engage in serious peace negotiations. While specifics of the proposed arms were not disclosed, the statement signals potential U.S. support for bolstering Ukraine’s military capabilities to shift the dynamics of the conflict.

The Ukrainian president’s comments come amid heightened tensions and ongoing Russian military aggression, which has devastated parts of Ukraine and displaced millions since the invasion began in February 2022. Zelensky has repeatedly called for international support to strengthen Ukraine’s defense and pressure Russia into meaningful dialogue.

As the war approaches its fourth year, Zelensky’s remarks reflect both defiance and a strategic push for diplomatic resolution, backed by military leverage. The mention of Trump’s potential involvement highlights the complex interplay of international actors in the conflict, with Ukraine seeking to rally global support to counter Russian advances.

The Kremlin has not yet responded to Zelensky’s latest statements. Meanwhile, the international community continues to watch closely as Ukraine navigates its defense strategy and pursues pathways to peace.
