Show your love towards your allies by capturing their territory – The abusive Sino-Nepalese relationship

Nepal is rapidly becoming China’s latest client state thanks to Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s complete surrender to Xi Jinping and his lackeys. At a time when Oli has reduced himself to being a servant of the Chinese ambassador, Hou Yanqi who has saved Oli’s government on multiple occasions, China is increasingly capturing Nepali territories. China is quietly capturing Nepali territories as Oli displays false bravado by staking claim on Indian territories, thereby making the Sino-Nepal relations a textbook case of an abusive relationship.

As China’s authority and hold on Nepal continues to increase, “Go Back China” protests have erupted in front of the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. The protests sprung up after China illegally built 11 buildings in Humla with a border pillar missing.

“Chinese side claimed that the area where the houses are built falls within the Chinese territory,” said the Chair of Namkha Rural Municipality.

It is believed that the buildings were erected nearly 2 kilometres into Nepalese territory with the locals being denied entry by the Chinese. The Chinese embassy in Nepal have brazened it out which further displays the abusive relationship between China and Nepal.

“China and Nepal are friendly neighbours. China has always respected Nepal’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The building mentioned by the media has been verified to be on the Chinese side of the China-Nepal border and Nepali side may make verifications again. China and Nepal have no territorial disputes. The two sides have always maintained close communication on border affairs,” said a spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu.

While Nepal authorities have confirmed that China indeed has intruded into Nepalese territory, it is unlikely that Oli will take any punitive action against his Chinese masters.

Earlier in June, China quietly occupied the territory of Nepal’s Rui village. The Chinese government even removed signboards in the Nepali language to legalize the occupation and has added it into the Tibet region, with the Oli government maintaining a stoic silence.

Nepali journalist, 50-year-old, Balaram Baniya who exposed the Chinese encroachment in Rui village was found dead in mysterious conditions in August. The journalist’s body was found at the banks of Bagmati River with his death shrouded in mystery as his tragic demise came close on the heels of his article highlighting the Chinese encroachment in Rui village.

Last month, China illegally grabbed Nepalese land in at least seven bordering districts. Nepali government agencies data reveal that China is gradually moving forward in these districts with the ultimate agenda of encroaching upon more and more landmass, while Oli continues to act as a mere bystander.

More worryingly for Nepal, the official estimates of China encroaching Nepalese land in seven bordering districts is likely to be underreported with the scenario expected to be much worse as Oli and the Nepali Communist Party will spare no efforts to shield Xi Jinping and the CCP.

It has been reported that the Nepalese districts of Dolakha, Gorkha, Darchula, Humla, Sindhupalchowk, Sankhuwasabha and Rasuwa have fallen victim to Chinese land grab.

The Ministry of Agriculture has also revealed how China has occupied land in at least 11 places falling under four Nepali districts. The areas occupied by China are of strategic importance as most of the areas are the catchment areas of rivers. Ever since 2005, Nepal has resisted the urge from going ahead with border talks with China to not displease the CCP and has also suspended the 2012 border talks in a bid to avoid domestic pressure and finding itself in a fix.

Chinese influence has been ever increasing in Nepal under the rule of Nepali Communist Party with Oli leading the charge to ensure Nepal becomes a Chinese colony. It seems that the people of Nepal are attempting to fight back the Chinese and end this abusive relationship once and for all.
