US President Joe Biden’s immigration policies, if they can be called so, have made the southern border with Mexico a safe route for drug cartels and other criminals. Texas Governor Greg Abbott warned on Sunday that Biden’s border policies are causing a surge in illegal immigration into the United States and “enriching and empowering” drug cartels in Mexico who profit from smuggling migrants. Texas Governor’s comments came as the number of unaccompanied children in border patrol custody has risen to 4,200.
The drug traffickers and cartels are having the time of their lives in making money. One thing has certainly turned out to be true, that the Biden administration is a heaven’s blessing on these cartels who were struggling during the Trump Presidency. The Republican governor said he went to the border last week and met with patrol officers, who he said expressed fears immigration will only increase in the coming months.
“The Border Patrol officers told me that the Biden administration and policies, they are enriching, they are empowering the drug cartels in Mexico who make money off of the people that they assist in smuggling into the state of Texas,” Abbott told Fox News. “The cartels make money off of these migrants that you and your viewers see on TV,” he added.
It seems as if all the chaos in the bordering states was not enough, that the smuggling has also become a bustling business. With Biden’s disastrous immigration policy and the massive influx of undocumented illegal immigrants, the USA’s border states are hurting. A highway crash in Holtville, a town about 125 miles outside of San Diego, California, involved human smugglers and 25 illegal immigrants as their overloaded Ford Expedition jammed into a single SUV and left over a dozen dead on Tuesday. Another chain-reaction crash near Camp Pendleton in California left a US Navy Seabee dead and five other Seabees injured.
The Biden administration is facing all-out criticism from the leaders and citizen of the bordering states. They have admitted that their policies are creating a tsunami of illegal immigrants. This is the Biden administration’s straight-forward and unabashed admission about bungling border management. President Joe Biden’s Southern border czar Roberta Jacobson said that it was not a “coincidence” that border crossing attempts spiked after Biden acceded to power. But Jacobson gives a poetic rationale for Biden’s failure.
In what can be described as nothing but plain and simple romanticism, the Southern border coordinator said, “We’ve seen surges before. Surges tend to respond to hope, and there was significant hope for a more humane policy after four years of pent-up demand.” Jacobson concluded, “There was a hope for a more humane policy after four years of pent-up demand, so I don’t know if I would call that a coincidence.”
Biden’s policies have been so disastrous that even the Mexican government is unhappy. Mexico is worried that the new United States administration’s asylum policies are stoking irregular migration and creating business for organised crime, Reuters reported, citing officials and internal assessments.
“They see him as the migrant president, and so many feel they’re going to reach the United States,” Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said of Biden the morning after a virtual meeting with his US counterpart on March 1. “We need to work together to regulate the flow because this business can’t be tackled from one day to the next,” he added.
Mexican intelligence shows that the smugglers’ transit costs vary widely. One assessment said that an unaccompanied Central American minor could secure passage to the US border for about $3,250. By contrast, for African travellers, the rate was $20,000. Asians must also pay more. From this, we can assess that the Biden administration is making it economic for the smugglers and drug cartels to improve their business situation.
At a time when the administration at Washington should be focused on taking care of its middle income and low-income families as well as small businesses, it is taking care of the business needs of the drug cartels and smugglers. Joe Biden has got his priorities messed up.
