Kamala wants to handle only those areas that can give her positive global coverage, and avoid the border mess

Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Border crisis

Kamala Harris is probably the most overarching American Vice President in a long time. She tends to overshadow her boss, President Joe Biden, time and again. Kamala herself is very ambitious for the 2024 Presidential polls and as such she is very conscious of the kind of publicity she is getting. The US Vice President, therefore, wants all the positive global coverage that she can get, while sidestepping the contentious border mess in the US.

Right from the word go, Kamala started overstepping her mandate. She even phoned French President Emmanuel Macron to address bilateral relations, on the behalf of Joe Biden, shortly after assuming office. It was unusual because it is rare for Vice Presidents to make calls to international leaders on their own accord. On February 1, Kamala again broke protocol again and this time she phoned Canadian PM Justin Trudeau.

Trump planning to run for US President for a third term?

Kamala appears as the one leading Biden’s foreign policy when it comes to discussing issues like COVID-19, climate change, diversity and other such popular issues. Yet, Kamala is not ready to even discuss one key issue – illegal immigration near American borders. Biden had actually put Kamala in charge of resolving the ongoing surge in immigration on the southern borders of the United States.

Biden wanted Kamala to solve the border mess, which has been created courtesy of Biden’s populist migration policies. Kamala was supposed to get to the root of the matter. As such, she was expected to address the migration crisis by stopping the flow of migrants into the US and establishing better ties with Mexico as well as Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, that is, the countries that account for most of the illegal immigration into the US.

Kamala had her task cut out – talk to the leaders of countries responsible for rampant migration into the US and somehow resolve the key political issue. For Biden, resolving the border crisis is all the more important because he is facing intense criticism because the situation is clearly spiralling out of control. Illegal immigration has clearly led to a major outbreak of COVID-19 cases in bordering towns like El Paso, Texas.

Biden’s open border policy has created a humanitarian catastrophe with a public health calamity, national security dangers and spike in cross-border crimes at the display. To make it even more embarrassing, the Biden administration has even restricted media access at the Southern US border. It is clear that Biden does not want Americans to understand the kind of crisis that his regime has created on his country’s southern border.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris is not showing even the remotest interest in resolving the border crisis. To be honest, she is making a conscious attempt to avoid the border mess. Last month, Kamala Harris was even asked if she had “plans to visit” the southern border in view of the ongoing border crisis, Kamala Harris had casually replied “not today” before laughing off the question put to her.

Kamala’s strategy is to sidestep the queries and demands she is facing about the ongoing southern border crisis in the United States. Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich even invited Kamala to visit and see the migrant crisis in his state’s section of the US border. But Kamala has not even replied to Brnovich’s request.

In fact, Kamala has gone 21 days without a news conference after being made in charge of resolving the US southern border crisis. The US Vice President is quite clearly showing that she has no plans of resolving the migrant crisis along the southern US border. Yet, Kamala is happily latching on to all the attention that she is getting while interacting with foreign leaders on more comfortable topics like climate change and diversity.
