Russia triggers an economic boom in Eastern Ukraine as Zelensky keeps dragging on the war

Eastern Ukraine has always been the center of attention for both Ukraine and Russia. The Russian military has successfully captured Mariupol and is getting aggressive in Luhansk and Donetsk. Whereas, Ukraine continues to be in shambles.

It’s an undeniable fact that due to conflicts in the region, many residents have been struck by dire economic consequences.

Russia has a control over a large part of the area and hence, it hence, Russia believes it is its responsibility to put the economy of this region back on track.

An Economic Boom in Eastern Ukraine

Russia wants to restart the economic engine of the Eastern Ukraine at the earliest. Reportedly, Russian officials have launched a campaign for recruiting essential workers.

These workers will be getting recruited for “reconstruction” of the former eastern Ukrainian territories as the area is now out of conflicts. Most of the information about these jobs were posted on public online job postings and news reports.

Russia will be offering above-average incomes and a wide range of perks to these workers such as “career growth” opportunities and even a $60 cash bonus for the referrals of other people.

Russian officials believe that volunteers are needed to assist in the restoration of Donetsk, the capital of the self-declared Donetsk People’s Republic.

Furthermore, teachers are also being reportedly recruited through private mediums, i.e. schools and universities hiring on their own after the control of Russia, according to the Siberia-based news website Tayga.info.

Politicians are also going to the separatist republics of Donetsk and Luhansk and they are guaranteed a doubling of their salaries and are even promised promotions upon returning to Russia.

Russia is leaving no stone unturned to cut off the influence of Ukraine in this area. Generating employment will in turn lead to enhance purchasing power among the Russians and thus help the Russian economy too.

Moreover, this will create a positive image of Russia amidst the constant negative media reports against Russia.

Eastern Ukraine as an economic hub

While Ukraine is constantly embroiled with the West to defeat Russia at any cost, Putin seems to be playing a really different game. He has already started rebuilding the eastern flank so that the economy returns back to the pre-war levels.

Russia has already secured a land corridor from Crimea to the Russian border with the capture of Mariupol. This has made Russia economically more active in the region.

The Russian rouble has been introduced in the regions of Ukraine that are now under Moscow’s military control. This makes it obvious that Russia is backing economic activities here. Russian defense ministry claims that “peaceful life” is being restored to the region and it will be done at the earliest.
