When is Teachers Day celebrated?

Every year on 5th September, Teachers Day is celebrated all over India and teachers are honored. Teachers Day is celebrated on the birthday of former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He is remembered on this occasion.

There is a great opportunity to make the relationship between teacher and students even better. Which is celebrated with great pomp in schools, colleges and institutions. Teachers Day is celebrated every year on 5 September at the national level in India. Teachers Day is celebrated internationally on 5 October.

Why is Teachers Day celebrated?

Since 1962, September 5 is being celebrated as Teachers Day in India. Teachers Day is celebrated every year on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of our country. It was on this day that he assumed the office of the President and from the same year his birthday was celebrated as Teachers Day in his honour.

In whose memory is Teachers Day celebrated?

Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President and second President of our country, was born on 5th September in 1888 and in his memory every year this day is celebrated as Teachers Day in India. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was also an educationist, who did many works to improve the education level of India.

Radhakrishnan was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor in 1954 and was also nominated for the Nobel Prize 27 times. It is said that some students and friends of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan once asked him to celebrate his birthday, to which Radhakrishnan said, ‘If instead of celebrating my birthday separately, it is celebrated as Teachers Day. I would feel very proud.’ Since then, the celebration of Teachers Day started in India.

What is the importance of Teachers Day?

Along with teachers, the importance of Teachers Day is more for the students. Teachers Day creates a respectful feeling towards the teacher by the students. The teacher builds the character of the student and plays an important role in making him an ideal citizen. A teacher educates his students with lots of love and sometimes even by scolding.

Teachers help their students to become a good and righteous human being. Without a teacher, we cannot get success in any field of life. Teacher plays an important role in building the future of the student. It is the teacher who increases the self-confidence of his student.
