History of this Temple

Titwala Ganpati Mandir was established by sage Kanva. It is said that King Dushyant and Goddess Shakuntala got married here after a long disagreement. It is believed that the idol of Titwala Ganesha disappeared at the time of making the pond there or it got drowned in water.

It is also said that during the rule of Madhav Rao, to solve the water problem of the people there, he had got a tank built, during that tank he found the idol of Ganesha buried here. Immediately after that the renovation work of the temple was started. Initially, the temple here was made of small wood like an assembly hall, which was not in good condition. Then in 1965-66 the temple was renovated at the same place.
