Saptashrungi Mata Mandir – Guide
Saptashrungi Mata Mandir is a Hindu pilgrimage site located 60 kilometers from Nashik in the Indian state of Maharashtra. There are 108 water bodies located around the hills and many villages are situated at the foot of the hills. Also, herbs of medicinal importance are also found in the lush forests of this region. The temple is believed to be one of the 51 Shaktipeeths and is the place where the right arm of Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva, fell on earth.
History of this Temple
Saptashringi Devi is the goddess who killed the evil demon Mahishasura who assumed the form of a buffalo. A buffalo head made of stone and believed to be that of a demon is found at the foot of the stairs leading to the temple. It is also believed that sage Markandeya wrote the book Devi Mahatmya in honor of the goddess.
Saptashrungi Mata Mandir is believed to be one of the 51 Shaktipeeths and is the place where the right arm of Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva, fell on earth. It is also known as the three and a half Shaktipeeths of Maharashtra. The goddess herself is said to be an incarnation of Shakti and an incarnation of Goddess Durga. She is also known as Brahmaswarupini and is said to have appeared from the kamandalu of Lord Brahma.

Muktidham Temple
One of the most prominent place in Nashik, Muktidham Temple was built in 1971 with white marble from Makrana, Rajasthan and is a centre of attraction for its distinctive architecture. Muktidham Temple has all the twelve Jyotirlingas, due to which this temple is considered very sacred. The most special thing about this temple is that its walls are inscribed with verses from the entire Bhagavad Gita.
Sita cave
Near Panchavati is the Sita cave, from where Sita was abducted by Ravana. This small cave and religious pilgrimage site is associated with the Hindu epic Ramayana and the goddess Sita. A narrow stairway leads to the caves. The caves have idols of Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana as well as a Shivling.
