While the whole world was heading towards a deadly Chinese pandemic, Canada was signing a contract with China. A contract of selling its crucial health care data to China. This uncanny history of Canada has led Saskatchewan pulling itself out of Trudeau’s trap now.
Premier Scott Moe of Saskatchewan has stated that he will not accede to any demands made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to make a digital ID a requirement for increased federal money for healthcare.
Moe’s statement
Following a meeting with Trudeau and other premiers on February 7, Moe made the statement in a letter in response to residents who had contacted his office with questions about this part of impending Canada Health Transfer discussions.
“The Government of Saskatchewan is not creating a Digital ID nor will we accept any requirements for the creation of a Digital ID tied to healthcare funding,” wrote Moe
“The Government of Saskatchewan will not share any personal medical information with the federal government. This information is protected under The Health Information Protection Act and will remain so.” said Moe.
“The Government of Saskatchewan may share already publicly available healthcare statistics, including the number of physicians in Saskatchewan and surgical wait times if requested by any party, including the federal government.” Moe stated.
In order to persuade Moe to reject Trudeau’s call for a national health ID, the Saskatchewan citizen group Unified Grassroots organised supporters to write to the provincial privacy commissioner, MLAs, and the office of the premier.
In recent years federal funding to healthcare has stooped to its lowest levels which makes it imperative for the government to partner with provinces to give life back to the sector but instead the government is placing its own demands.
On the other hand, the provinces are demanding additional funding for healthcare. Moe also stayed in agreement with other premiers but made it clear that he will not surrender or weaken any personal health privacy rights when signing a new Canada Health Transfer agreement. Instead, he pledged working diligently toward a funding agreement that benefits Saskatchewan people by investing in healthcare in both rural and urban areas of his province.
Pandemic era discrepancies
Let’s roll back to March 2020. You’ll remember fear, isolation, and lockdowns, right? But, apart from the USA there was no lockdown imposed in Canada. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau was not imposing a lockdown because he believed that China had a plan to save Canada from the upcoming crisis.
Yes, even before the pandemic started, Canada signed the agreement with China which gave every crucial health care data of Canadians to the CCP. From health ailments to medication, CCP knew Canadians even more than Canadians themselves.
Scott has clearly stated that he isn’t interested in any shady deal with a government which holds a past record of sharing the personal data of its citizens with countries like China. Which is why Saskatchewan’s premier Scott Moe has chosen to head out of the liberal government’s shady data sharing deal.
