Raghunath Mandir, Jammu – Guide

Raghunath Mandir is located in Jammu city, Jammu and Kashmir. This temple is not only the faith of Hindu religion but also the identity of the city of Jammu. This temple is the biggest and main temple of North India. This temple is dedicated to Lord Rama. This temple is a prime example of Indian art.

History of this Temple

Raghunath Mandir Jammu was built in 1835-1860 by Maharaja Ranveer Singh and his father Maharaja Gulab Singh. This temple has 7 historical religious complex. The Ram temple is studded with gold which is the form of brightness. The idols of many gods and goddesses of the temple are installed and in this temple lingams of 33 crore gods and goddesses of Hindu religion are also made, which is a history in temples and this feature separates it from all other temples of India.

The construction of this temple was started in 1835 by Raja Gulab Singh. But the temple was completed during the time of King Ranveer Singh. Inside the temple, the walls are plated with gold on three sides.

Raghunath Mandir Jammu opens at 6.00 AM in the morning and close at 8.00 PM in the evening. Daily Aarti performed at 7:00 AM in the morning.

Place to visit near this Temple

Vaishno Devi Temple is one of the most visited Hindu temples in the world, with millions of pilgrims visiting this temple every year. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi and according to belief whatever you ask for here.

Bahu Fort

An important addition to any sightseeing tour of Jammu is the Bahu Fort. This 18th century fort was built by Raja Gulab Singh of the Dogra Kingdom. It is situated at a height of 325 meters in front of the Old Town of Jammu.

Pir Kho cave

Pir Kho cave is a temple, which is actually mentioned as an attraction in the list of Jammu Kashmir tourist places. The temple is one of the oldest temples in the city.

Bhimgarh Fort

This hill fort is situated at a height of 150 meters from the ground and has various attractions including temples, ponds and grand rooms. In its early days, it was made using clay.

Bagh-e-Bahu

Bagh-e-Bahu is situated on the banks of the Tawi river. You have dedicated walking paths in the garden that allow you to stroll and connect with the essence of nature. Local people and tourists come here for picnic and photography.

Amar Mahal Palace

This palace was built in the nineteenth century by a French architect after being commissioned by Raja Amar Singh, a Dogra ruler. Today it has been converted into a museum.

By Air- The nearest airport from this temple is Jammu airport which is at a distance of about 8 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Train- The nearest railway station from this temple is Jammu Tawi railway station which is at a distance of about 3 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Road- Roads to Raghunath Mandir Jammu are well connected with the other cities of the country so you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle or by any public buses or taxi from any part of the country.
