Tulsi Manas Mandir, Varanasi – Guide 

Tulsi Manas Mandir is a Hindu temple located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. This temple is situated at a distance of about 5 kilometers from the Cantt of Varanasi. The most famous Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple of Varanasi is situated at a distance of about 250 meters from Tulsi Manas and Shri Durgo Kund Temple is situated at a distance of 700 metres.

Tulsi Manas Mandir has special importance among the temples of Varanasi. Its temple also has historical and cultural importance in Hinduism.

History of this Temple

The Hindu epic Ramcharitmanas was written in a simplified form by the Hindu poet and saint Goswami Tulsidas in the 16th century. Ramayana which is a special epic of Hindu religion. Ramayana was written by Valmiki in Sanskrit language. Which is believed to have been written between around 500 and 100 BC. Because the original Ramayana is in Sanskrit. That’s why it was not easy for the common man to understand. That’s why Ramcharitmanas was written in easy Hindi language.

Tulsi Manas Mandir was built by Seth Ratan Lal Sureka. This temple is made entirely of marble. The temple was inaugurated in 1964 by Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the then President of India. The idol of Sri Rama, Mata Janaki, Lakshana and Hanuman is placed in the middle of this temple.

Tulsi Manas Mandir opens from 05:30 am to 12:00 Noon in the morning and from 03:30 pm to 09:00 pm in the evening.

The Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi is considered an auspicious place for cremation. The name of Manikarnika Ghat is included in the major places of Varanasi.

Ramnagar Fort

Ramnagar Fort and Museum is a crumbling ruin situated opposite Tulsi Ghat. This fort was built in 1750 by Raja Balwant Singh with the Mughal style of architecture.

Chunar Fort is located in the Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh, about 23 km southwest of the city of Varanasi.

Sarnath

Sarnath, located at a distance of 13 km from Varanasi, is one of the famous Buddhist pilgrimage centers in India.

Alamgir Mosque

The Alamgir Mosque, built in the 17th century. This structure standing as a mosque is a testimony to the breathtaking methods Aurangzeb dominated the Panchganga Ghat.

By Air- The nearest airport from Tulsi Manas Mandir is Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport which is at a distance of around 27.4 km away from Tulsi Manas Temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Train- The nearest railway station from Tulsi Manas Mandir is Varanasi Junction which is at a distance of about 6.4 Km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Road- Roads to this temple are well connected with the other cities of the country so you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle or by any public buses or taxi from any part of the country.
