Birla Mandir Bhopal – Guide

Birla Mandir is one of the major pilgrimage centre of Bhopal, situated atop the Arera hills and surrounded by well maintained lawns with fountains and abundant ornamental and flowering plants. The temple complex has the shrine of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and the sacred Lakshmi-Narayan temple. The temple is constructed and maintained by the famous Birla family. This is one of the biggest temples in Bhopal which has a serene environment and lots of greenery and open space.

History of this Temple

Near the Lakshmi Narayan Temple is the Birla Museum, which houses impressive sculptures from the 12th century in Madhya Pradesh. The Birla Mandir Bhopal structure is sandy-yellow in colour covering an area of ​​about 7-8 acres. The facade of the structure is a massive bastion, while extensive lawns surround the complex on the other side.

The entrance to Birla Mandir Bhopal is through a magnificent archway. This temple is also known as Lakshmi and Vishnu temple because this temple is fully dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lakshmi. The walls around the Lakshmi Narayan Temple have many carvings and sculptures. The architecture of this temple is very grand. There is a big conch shell build in the lawn of the temple which is unique in itself.

Bhojtal

Bhopal has a large number of lakes in the city, due to which Bhopal is also called the city of lakes. Upper Lake is the most important lake of Bhopal. The Upper Lake is named after Raja Bhojtal. That’s why Upper Lake is also known as Bhojtal.

Gohar Mahal

Gohar Mahal of Bhopal city is one of the most prominent tourist places of the city. The palace is named after Qudisia Begum, the first woman ruler of Bhopal. Who is also known as Gohar Begum.

Shaukat Mahal

Shaukat Mahal is also located, which has a history of 180 years. Shaukat Mahal was built in the 19th century during the reign of Sikandar Begum, daughter of Gohar Begum.

Bhimbetka caves

Bhimbetka caves are located at a distance of 46 km from Bhopal city, which is believed to be related to the character of Bhima of Mahabharata, hence the name Bhimbetka.

Bhojpur Shiv Temple

Bhojpur Shiv Temple is about 30 km away from Bhopal city. Which is also known as Bhojeshwar Temple. The Bhojpur Temple of Bhopal was built during the reign of Raja Bhoj in the 11th century.

By Air- The nearest airport from Birla Mandir Bhopal is raja bhoj airport which is at a distance of 15 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Train- The nearest railway station from Birla Mandir is Bhopal railway station which is at a distance of about 5 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Road- Roads to Birla Mandir Bhopal is well connected with the other cities of the country so you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle or by any public buses or taxi from any part of the country.
