Ashta Lakshmi Mandir is located in Besant Nagar, Chennai. The famous temple is situated a few meters away from the Basant Nagar beach. A wonderful view of the Bay of Bengal is visible from here. Ashtalakshmi is the goddess of wealth and knowledge. The special thing about this temple is that idols of 8 forms of Goddess Lakshmi are installed here.

The Ashta Lakshmi Mandir of Chennai was built to worship the eight incarnations of the Supreme Goddess Lakshmi which include wealth, success, prosperity, knowledge, courage, bravery, food and progeny. One who worships with a pure mind gets the blessings of Goddess Ashtalakshmi.

History of this Temple

Saints Sri Maha Periyaval of Kanchi Mutt, Sri Chandrasekhara Saraswati had wished for the construction of the Ashta Lakshmi Mandir of Chennai. The devotees laid the foundation with enthusiasm and devotion. The foundation stone of the temple was laid in January 1974. The consecration of the temple took place on April 5, 1976 in the presence of Vedanta Desika Yatindra Mahadesikan Swami, the 44th guru of the Ahobila Mutt. After the temple was built, the temple authorities performed the Jeernotharan Ashtabandhan Mahakumbhabhishekam. A total of 32 Kalash were newly installed in the temple. These included a 5.5 ft. high gilded Kalasam at the top of the sanctum sanctorum.

Ashta Lakshmi Mandir Chennai opens from 6:30 AM to 12 Noon in the morning and from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM in the evening. Special Puja aarti are performed on Friday Saturday and Sunday in the morning.
