The land of Haiti is a tapestry of vibrant cultures, breathtaking landscapes, and diverse communities. Its people have weathered countless storms, but none have been as relentless as the political turbulence which has now started to engulf their homeland. And guess who is capitalising on this? It’s their own friend Canada.

For years, the country has struggled with a lack of stable governance, leaving its citizens at the mercy of corruption and mismanagement. A shadow cast by Canada, a supposedly friendly country with its own plans for Haiti’s resources and wealth, hangs over this pandemonium.

Who is the new Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who calls Trump ‘Voldemort’

As the winds of change blow across the land, Canada led by Justin Trudeau has seized the opportunity to exploit the situation for its own benefit.

If we talk about the political situation of Haiti, following Moïse’s assassination on July 7, 2021, Ariel Henry took over as its de facto prime minister, leading to a significant escalation in the ongoing socio-political crisis. This led to a more hazardous and challenging environment for the people to acquire basic necessities of life, with an organized pattern of abductions continuing. Since the beginning of September 2022, there has been a widespread uprising across Haiti, demanding Ariel Henry’s resignation, improved living conditions, and an end to the imperial control of the Core Group.

Haiti has always eyed Canada as its all-weather ally but sadly Canada led by Justin Trudeau has been involved in a war against it.

The Canada that you see helping Haiti has a darker side. We are stating this because Canada is a part of the nefarious group that seeks Haiti’s situation to never improve and to always be unstable.

Now, let me tell you about the Core group through which countries like Canada try to rule Haiti.

The Core Group in Haiti is made up of Special Representatives of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Organization of American States, and the Ambassadors of Canada, the United States, France, Germany, Brazil, Spain, and the European Union (OAS).

The United States, France, Canada, and the Core Group are referred to as “the largest gangsters in Haiti”.

Even before the Core Group was formally established in 2003, Canada conducted a series of meetings known as the “Ottawa Initiative on Haiti,” which got underway on January 31 and February 1 2003, in Meech Lake and in Ottawa. It is to be noted that, Without any Haitian officials present, representatives of the US, France, Canada, El Salvador, and the OAS met to discuss the future of Haiti.

Some Haitians say de facto control by foreign ambassadors, and local allies brought hunger and gang rule. They clearly say “And what we want is for the Core Group not to meddle in our affairs.”

According to government documents that Green Party MP Paul Manly got through an Access-to-Information request, plans to overthrow Haiti’s democratically elected government were reportedly discussed.

A little more than a year later, on February 29, 2004, France, Canada and the US helped to overthrow the democratically elected Fanmi Lavalas government of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. The Haitian government was replaced by a brutal dictatorship led by Prime Minister Gérard Latortue.

In the current circumstances, more Haitians are fleeing the country to seek asylum now that Ariel Henry is in power, paying expensive fees to human smugglers to board overcrowded boats that navigate hazardous waters.

It’s no secret that there was no constitutional provision for dictator Henry to be sworn in as a PM in 2021, but it only became possible because the US led by Joe Biden and Canada led by Justin Trudeau had some ulterior motives behind the move. These countries do not want Haiti to function. It sounds tragic that the Canadian government is actively undermining the Haitian government, but it’s true. Canadian imperialism in the country has led to people hating Canadians and propagating hashtags like #HandsoffHaiti.

Even the recent noise of the Roxham road closure has irked the nerves of the Haitians as it leaves the Haitian migrants in limbo. Haitians are reacting with a mix of bemusement and insouciance to word that Canadian politicians want to make it harder for migrants to enter by shutting down Roxham Road. Such statements seem to clash with Canada’s friendly image in Haiti and clearly indicate what Justin Trudeaue’s intentions about Haiti are.

Canada has always had the top spot for Haitian migrants seeking to leave their country owing to a lack of work or increased gang violence. But now, Roxham road, the only link between them seems to shut its doors for Haitians.

Canada has always worked tirelessly to prevent any legitimate elections or the emergence of a strong leader in Haiti, fearful that such a development would threaten their own ulterior motives. Justin Trudeau thinks that if Haiti gets a stable and stable and strong government, Canada will lose its dream colony.

It is the right time that the common people of both Canada and Haiti to realise what is happening to them and how their governments are ruining things between the two nations.

Like a predator stalking its prey, Canada has gradually tightened its grip on the vulnerable nation, undermining its sovereignty and manipulating its political process. Haitians have become pawns in a dangerous game of power. Caught between their own aspirations for a brighter future and the ruthless machinations of their opportunistic friend, Canada, Haitians must seek truth and resilience.
