Durga Mata Mandir Vindhyachal – Guide

Vindhyachal Temples are famous for Goddess Vindhyavasani, one of the nine goddesses of Hinduism and one of the 51 Shaktipeeths. The Vindhyavasani Durga Mata Mandir is located in the Vindhyachal town close to Mirzapur and Varanasi in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. There are many scenic temples built near Vindhyavasani Devi Temple, whose darshan is taken advantage of by a large number of devotees. Due to the proximity of the city of Mirzapur to the Goddess Ganga, the euphoria increases further.

History of this Temple

The generosity of Vindhyachal and Goddess Vindhyavasani has been mentioned in many ancient scriptures and texts of India. Some of these special texts are found in Markandeya Purana, Matsya Purana, Mahabharata, Vamana Purana, Devi Bhagavata, Raja Tarangini, Brihat Katha, Harivansh Purana, Skanda Purana, Kadambari and many Tantra Shastras. Especially in the Markandeya Purana, a detailed description of the war between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura is seen.
