Kanch Mandir indore – Guide
Kanch Mandir is a magnificent Jain temple located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Located on Hukumchand Marg, it is one of the prominent religious places in Indore. Also known as Seth Hukamchand Temple, this Jain temple displays exquisite artwork on glass panels depicting various aspects of Jainism. The temple is completely made of glass which includes walls, roof, floor, pillars and doors.
History of this Temple
Kanch Mandir indore, literally Temple of Glass, was built in 1903 by Sir Seth Hukumchand Jain, a prominent businessman and one of India’s industrial pioneers. He built a mansion called Sheesh Mahal in Itwaria Bazar and Kanch Mandir near it, both built using a white stone. Externally, the temple is built in the form of a medieval haveli, with a cantilevered balcony and a shikhara. Seth Hukumchand hired artisans from Jaipur and some even from Iran to work on the temple.

Kanch Mandir indore opens from 5:00 AM to 12 Noon in the morning and from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the evening. The best time to visit this temple is during sunrise when the sun rays create a mesmerizing effect on the glass.

This temple was built by Rani Ahilya Bai Holkar to save the idol of Lord Ganesha from Aurangzeb. Earlier this temple was in the form of a hut, but after the construction work, this temple has assumed a grand form. This Kharjana temple is one of the big temples of Lord Ganapati.
