Nanded Renuka Mata Mandir – Guide

Renuka Mata Mandir in Mahur, Nanded, Maharashtra is one of the important temples dedicated to Goddess Shakti. Mahur is said to be the birthplace of the Hindu goddess Renuka, the mother of Lord Parashurama. Several temples can be found here along with the strategically important Ramgarh Fort. This place is in Kinwat taluka and it is about 130 kms from Nanded city. Temples of Lord Parshuram and Lord Dattatreya are also built in the neighbourhood. There are caves around the surrounding hills, which is quite breathtaking to see.

History of this Temple

It is believed that a Yadava king of Devagiri got Renuka Mata Mandir Nanded built around 800-900 years ago. Mahur is one of the three and a half pilgrimage centres in which three and a half goddesses reside, which are of great importance in the state of Maharashtra. The other three, respectively Kolhapur, Tuljapur and Saptashringi and Mahur are half, as it is only the head of the goddess that is visible. The three and a half Shaktipeeths of Maharashtra are Bhavani at Tuljapur, Mahalakshmi at Kolhapur, Mahur’s lineage, and Renuka and Saptashringi, upholding Jagdamba.

Nanded Renuka Mata Mandir opens at 6:00 AM in the morning and close at 9:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 6:30 AM in the morning and evening aarti is performed at 7:00 PM in the evening.

Mahur Fort

It is an ancient fort situated in Nanded district. It is situated near Mahur village. The fort stands on a hill and the entire Mahur village can be seen from here.

Statue of Komaram Bheem

Komaram bheem was a tribal leader who fought against the Asaf Jahi dynasty for the liberation of Hyderabad. His statue is located in Asifabad district. This statue tells about the independence of Hyderabad.

Shri Aundha Nagnath Jyotirlinga Temple

It is an ancient Shiva temple located in Hingoli district. Aundha Nagnath is considered the eighth of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India, an important pilgrimage site. The present temple was built in the 13th century.

Takhat Sachkhand Shri Hazur Achal Nagar Sahib

It is the main Gurudwara of Nanded and one of the five high seats of authority of the Sikhs. This is the place where Sri Guru Gobind Singhji breathed his last. The gurudwara is located in the city of Nanded. The Gurudwara was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singhji, the great ruler of Punjab, between 1830 and 1839 AD.

By Train- The nearest railway station from Nanded Renuka Mata Mandir is Kinwat railway station which is at a distance of 50 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Road- Roads to this temple are well connected with the other cities of the country so you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle or by any public buses or taxi from any part of the country.
