Banaskantha Ambe Mata Mandir – Guide

Ambe Mata Mandir located in Banaskantha district of Gujarat is a famous temple of Durga Mata. Ambaji Temple situated on the Gujarat-Rajasthan border is one of the ancient temples of India. One of the 51 Shaktipeeths of Maa Bhavani, this temple has immense reverence among the devotees of the mother.

It is said that the heart of Mother Sati had fallen here, which is also mentioned in Tantra Chudamani. You will be surprised to know that there is no idol of the mother in the sanctum sanctorum of this temple, but the holy Shree Yantra of the mother is mainly worshiped here.

History of this Temple

Banaskantha Ambe Mata Mandir was built by Shri Tapishankar, a Nagara devotee of Ambaji, Ahmedabad from 1584 to 1594. This temple is worshiped since early Vedic times and the goddess is accepted as Arasur ni Ambe Maa as the temple is situated on the top of the Aravalli hills. Ambaji Temple is widely known as one of the most important Shakti Peethas and it is well known that people around the area keep chanting Ambaji’s name as a holy hymn. Ambaji is known as the supreme cosmic controller of the world.

Banaskantha Ambe Mata Mandir Timings

Banaskantha Ambe Mata Mandir opens every morning for darshan of Ambe Maa Yantra. The temple has darshan in summers from 7 am to 9:15 pm. Mother’s aarti is done every morning at 6 o’clock. Madhyan Aarti takes place from 7 AM to 8 AM, Rajbhog Aarti at 12 Noon and Sandhya Aarti from 7 PM to 7:30 PM.

Gabbar Hills

Gabbar Hills are situated on the Gujarat-Rajasthan border. According to scriptures there is to be believed, this is the place where the heart of the dead Goddess Sati fell. But one has to climb 999 steps to reach there. A sacred lamp is always burning on these hills in front of the Ambe temple.

Kailash hill

Kailash hill is a picnic cum pilgrimage spot just 1.5 km from Ambaji. A beautiful Shivalaya is present on top of Kailash Tekri. There is also a magnificent artistic stone gate to the temple of Mahadev on the hill.

Koteshwar

The small village island of Koteshwar in the west of Kutch district of Gujarat is famous for its religious importance. It has an ancient Shiva temple and the important pilgrimage site of Narayan Sarovar.

Mansarovar

Mansarovar is behind the main temple. It is said to have been built from 1584 to 1594 by Shri Tapishankar, a Nagara devotee of Ambaji, Ahmedabad. There are two temples on the two banks of this sacred lake, one of Mahadev and the other of Ajay Devi, who is believed to be the sister of Mata Ambaji.

By Air- The nearest airport from Banaskantha Ambe Mata Mandir is Sardar vallabh bhai airport Ahmedabad which is at a distance of 100 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Train- The nearest railway station from Banaskantha Ambe Mata Mandir is Abu road railway station which is at a distance of 20 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Road- Roads to this temple are well connected with the other cities of the country so you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle or by any public buses or taxi from any part of the country.
