In a world where climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time, it is truly heartbreaking to see a Canadian delegation to COP27 spend hundreds of dollars a night to stay in a luxurious, eco–unfriendly resort. It is no secret that the environment is in dire need of protection, and it is simply unacceptable that a group of people who are meant to be taking a stand for the environment are instead contributing to its destruction with their luxurious lifestyle.
The irony of the situation is that these delegates have chosen to stay in an environmentally–unfriendly hotel despite being part of a conference which is meant to focus on the importance of sustainability. This is a sure sign that the delegates are not taking the issue of climate change seriously and that they are not willing to make the necessary changes in their own lifestyles in order to make a difference. It is also worth noting that the money spent on the luxurious resort could have been put to far better use.

The money could have been used to fund programs that promote sustainability and green initiatives, or even to help those in need. Instead, it is being used to support a lifestyle of excess and luxury. It is also important to note that the delegates are not the only people responsible for this situation. The hotel itself is also to blame for having such a low Green Star rating and for offering such an environmentally–unfriendly stay.

It would be a great idea for hotel management to take steps to improve their environmental footprint and make their hotel more eco–friendly. In conclusion, it is unacceptable that the Canadian delegation to COP27 chose to stay in an environmentally–unfriendly resort. The delegates should take responsibility for their actions and ensure that their lifestyles and choices are in line with their commitment to fight climate change. Furthermore, the hotel should also take steps to reduce its environmental footprint and offer more sustainable options for its guests.
