Jagdish Temple Udaipur – Guide

Jagdish Temple is a grand and majestic structure located in the City Palace complex of Udaipur dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple also known as Lord Lakshmi Narayan is famous as the most important temple in the entire city of Udaipur. The entrance to this holy temple can be seen from the Bara Pol of the City Palace. Jagdish Temple is famous for its beautiful carvings, many attractive idols and peaceful atmosphere.

History of this Temple

Shri Jagdish Temple was built by Maharaja Jagat Singh, the ruler of Udaipur. Who ruled the city of Udaipur from 1628 to 1653. This grand temple was built on a small terrace and its construction was over by the year 1651. This beautiful and attractive temple has been constructed by the Hindu architectural science of Vastu Shastra. You will be surprised to know that at that time about 1.5 million rupees were spent in the construction of this huge temple building.

There is a four-armed idol of Lord Vishnu carved out of a single piece of black stone inside the main temple. This shrine of Lord Jagdish is surrounded by four small temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the Sun God, Goddess Shakti and Shiva respectively. The atmosphere near and inside this temple is completely filled with peace, which gives a special experience to the tourists visiting here.

Jagdish Temple Udaipur opens from 4:15 AM to 1:00 PM in the morning and from 5:15 PM to 8:00 PM in the evening. Mangala Aarti is performed from 4:30 am to 5:00 am. Dhoop Aarti is performed from 7:45 am to 9:00 am. Shringar Aarti is performed from 10:15 am to 11:00 am. Rajbhog Aarti is performed from 11:30 to 12:00 midnight. Gwal Aarti is performed from 5:30 to 6:00 pm. Evening Aarti is performed from 6:30 to 7:45 pm and Shayan Aarti is performed from 8:15 to 8:45 pm.

By Train- The nearest railway station from Jagdish Temple is Udaipur railway station which is at a distance of about 6 kms away from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Road- Roads to this temple are well connected with the other cities of the country so you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle or by any public buses or taxi from any part of the country.
