Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple – Guide

Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple is known for Lord Kartikeya, in this grand temple Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati, is worshiped as Subramanya Devta. The Kukke Sri Subramanya Temple is located in the Subramanya village of Kannada district in the south of Karnataka. Kukke Sri Subramanya Temple situated on the banks of Kumar Dhara River. Kukke Shree Subramanya Temple is especially known for Nag Dosh and Nag Puja.

History of this Temple

About the history of Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple, we come to know from mythology that Lord Subramanya is also known as Shanmukh Devta. Once came here with his brother Lord Ganesha and killed other demons including the demon king Tadka. Overjoyed by Kartikeya’s victory, Devraj Indra handed over his daughter’s hand to him. Vasuki, the supreme devotee of Lord Bholenath, did his penance, pleased with which he assured to protect Garund and went to this direction. He is also believed to reside in the temple along with Vasuki.

Ashlesha Bali Puja takes place in the Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple. The best time for this puja is in the months of June-July and November. This puja takes place in two phases at Kukke Sri Subramanya Temple, the first phase at 7:00 am and the second phase at 9:15 am. Snake rituals are also performed in the Kukke Shri Subramanya temple, this worship is done to get rid of Kaal Sarp Dosh. Kaal Sarp Dosh is the fault that is caused by any person knowingly or unknowingly harming any snake.

Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple opens from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the morning and from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 6:30 AM in the morning and evening aarti is performed at 7:00 PM in the evening.

This temple is dedicated to16 Swamiji’s of Subramanya Temple. This temple is located just near the Subramanya Temple.

Adi Subramanya

This temple is dedicated to vasuki. This temple is located just near this Subramanya Temple.

Mullayanagiri Peak

Mullayanagiri peak is situated near Chikmagalur town and this peak is situated at an altitude of about 1930 meters above sea level.

Matsya And Panchami

The place named Matsya and Panchami situated on the banks of Kumar Dhara river in Kukke Shri Subramanya temple village is a very sacred pilgrimage site.

Kumar Parvat

This is the beautiful hill which is located at this village. This place is at a distance of few kms away from this temple.

By Air- The nearest airport from Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple is Mangalore airport which is at a distance of 85 km away from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Train- The nearest railway station from Kukke Shri Subrahmanya Temple is Subramanyam railway station which is at a distance of 7 km away from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Road- By using roads you can easily reach this temple as it is well connected and also many state and City buses runs. To reach this temple first you have to reach the Bangalore then from here you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle or by any public buses or taxi.
