A recent Gallup survey highlights that a majority of Americans currently perceive President Joe Biden as not being highly regarded by other world leaders. The findings indicate that 58% of Americans do not believe Biden is respected by his counterparts, contrasting with the 37% who hold the view that he is respected. Notably, this marks a shift from February 2021, shortly after Biden assumed office, when 58% of respondents in a comparable poll expressed the belief that Biden was respected by global leaders. The data suggests a change in public perception over time regarding President Biden’s international standing , revealing a notable decrease in the percentage of Americans who perceive him as being held in high esteem by world leaders.

President Biden’s current ‘respect’ rating, although the lowest in his career, mirrors the highest performance of his predecessor and election rival, Donald Trump, according to recent data from Gallup. The agency notes that these results align with Biden’s most recent job approval ratings. A February poll revealed that 38% of Americans were content with Biden’s performance, marking the lowest rating for any of the past seven presidents at the end of their first term, with 59% expressing dissatisfaction.

The Gallup poll, based on phone interviews with 1,016 US adults, sheds light on Biden’s sustained low approval ratings, attributed in part to concerns over his age and mental state. Despite calls from a former White House physician and 83 US House Republicans for a cognitive test, Biden’s most recent medical examination, lacking a cognitive test, affirmed his overall health and fitness for office.

At 81 years old, President Biden holds the distinction of being the oldest president in US history. He has garnered attention for occasionally making confusing and embarrassing public remarks, some of which have circulated widely on social media, eliciting mockery. A recent instance occurred during an interview with MSNBC this past Saturday when Biden mistakenly asserted that Washington erred in entering Ukraine, whereas he intended to reference the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. Such verbal slips have contributed to public discourse surrounding Biden’s communication skills and, in turn, have sparked online reactions.
