The floundering Justin Trudeau regime continues its descent into chaos as the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada and Trudeau’s close ally Chrystia Freeland announced her resignation from the cabinet. Freeland had apparently been at odds with Trudeau over Donald Trump’s tariff threats. Meanwhile Donald Trump took to social media to troll the Trudeau regime again, calling Justin Trudeau the Governor of Canada.
Justin Trudeau flew to Florida last month to dine with Trump to find some kind of a common ground, but the Republican leader has so far not indicated any respite. Infact on the resignation of Freeland he has once again taken a jibe at Trudeau. “The Great State of Canada is stunned as the Finance Minister resigns, or was fired, from her position by Governor Justin Trudeau,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Her behaviour was totally toxic, and not at all conducive to making deals which are good for the very unhappy citizens of Canada. She will not be missed!!!”
Trump previously trolled Trudeau by calling Canada a state and Trudeau a Governor. During his first term in his office, when he renegotiated the free trade deal with Canada and Mexico Trump had said that Freeland wasn’t liked. Trump has recently also indicated that Canada should become the 51st state of USA.
The US President elect Donald Trump has threatened Canada with a 25 per cent import tariff. Trudeau who has fallen far behind his primary rival Pierre Poilievre is facing a massive wave of anti incumbency due to the severe cost of living crisis plaguing the nation as well as the shocking rise in organized terror activities like the Khalistan movement.
Freeland was first elected to parliament in 2013, the former journalist joined Trudeau’s cabinet two years later when the Liberals swept to power, holding key posts including trade and foreign minister, and leading free trade negotiations with the European Union and the United States.
Most recently, Freeland was heading the finance ministry and had been gearing up to deal with the incoming Trump administration. As the first woman to hold the position, she had also been tipped as a possible successor to Trudeau. Canada’s main trading partner is the United States, with 75 percent of its exports each year going to its neighbor.
Major issues in Canada
In spring 2024, nearly half (45%) of Canadians reported that rising prices were greatly affecting their ability to meet day-to-day expenses, 12 percentage points higher than what it was two years earlier (33%). This release relates to how rising prices are affecting the ability of Canadians to meet their day-to-day expenses, their concerns with housing affordability, the likelihood that they will obtain food or meals from community organizations, their financial stress, and the relationship between financial stress and quality of life.
The cost of living crisis remains one of the major topics of debate for the upcoming Canadian election in 2025. Meanwhile the immigrant crisis has compounded the issues for the common Canadian this has led to a strong anti immigrant stance in the local populace. They have also been left frustrated by the Trudeau government’s strong support for criminal and terrorist elements like the Khalistan movement.
Trudeau has been a constant supporter of the radical Khalistanis festering in his nation that are freely leading anti India movements. The Trudeau regime has given a free hand to all kinds of criminal elements that are now running massive organized criminal and terror networks all over the nation. To protect such terrorists the Trudeau regime has also ruined international relations with India. Going far enough to accuse the Indian government of being involved in the assassination of the Khalistani Hardeep Singh Nijjar making it an issue of ‘national security’. This has also almost completely scuttled the chances of a Free Trade Agreement with India even in the foreseeable future, while destroying relations between the two countries that would take years to rebuild.
Trudeau is now being abandoned by his close allies one after the other, first it was the radical NDP leader Jagmeet Singh who pulled his backing from the Trudeau regime, and now his close ally Chrystia Freeland has also abandoned ship. The resignation of Freeland also marks a growing dissent against Trudeau in his own party ranks. Liberal leader Trudeau lags 20 points in polls behind his main rival, Conservative Pierre Poilievre who will be once again looking for an opportunity to topple the Trudeau government. With the Canadian elections approaching in less than a year, Justin Trudeau’s time at the helm seems in all likelihood to be coming to an end.
